In this collection of short stories, P.G. Wodehouse introduced the world to Bertie Wooster and his manservant Jeeves, two of the best-loved characters in literature. Half of the eight stories follow the exploits of Jeeves and Wooster, and half examine the doings of Reggie Pepper, an early version of Bertie Wooster. Set during the downswing of the increasingly unpopular British aristocracy, the stories in My Man Jeeves bear no grudges. The light feel makes them easy and uplifting to read. From today’s vantage point, the setting of My Man Jeeves may seem remote; but the themes are universal and the characters remind us of people we know. When told through the tip of Wodehouse’s pen, even the daily routines of Bertie, Jeeves, and Reggie become hilarious narratives

My Man Jeeves PG Wodehouse Harry Cassin 9789810890360 Books Reviews
very funny
Fantastic book! Great historical details. As always another fabulous book from Angela Hunt. There was 1 problem with the book. The first six chapters were repeated again before the start of the 7th chapter. I assume that this was a problem at the printers. However I just skipped those extra chapters and the rest of the book was complete in its entirety.
These early tales are perhaps a bit less polished than those of the author's heyday, which was yet to come; but they are still a joy.
I enjoyed the first couple of stories, but then they just seemed predictable and silly. Perhaps it was a commentary on the social system of the time. Lazy, manipulative men with nothing to do are not very inspiring in the long scheme of things.
If you are familiar with Wodehouse, you know the humor you're getting. Sublime.
The actual kindle version is good, and it's great to have the original illustrations. Highly recommended.
